Kathie Farnell’s experience with grant writing goes back to the 1980s when she directed the Office of Energy and Environmental Law at the University of Alabama.

In 1995, she co-wrote the series of funding applications which secured more than $100,000 for the award-winning public radio documentary, “Remembering Slavery.”

She has designed, researched and written successful grant applications for entities including the Smithsonian Institution, the Center for Public Television and Radio, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Institute of Texan Cultures, Alabama Public Television, and the Institute of Language and Culture.

Her work has secured major funding from agencies and organizations including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Texas Council on the Humanities, the Southern Humanities Media Fund, and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
